Since 2002 Guardian News & Media has been implementing its Equality & Diversity (E&D) strategy and we need an experienced practitioner to build on this work. Working with the E&D steering group, headed by a Board level champion, you will assist in creating an inclusive working environment and ensuring that key issues are mainstreamed into all of our processes.
The E&D Manager will work closely with four cross-company working groups to implement the diversity and inclusion company wide objectives. You will be adept at using monitoring data to inform managers, identify measurable goals, support action and influence at all levels including Board level. A key focus of the role will be to support the business units and HR colleagues on all aspects of diversity, equality and inclusion. You will be involved in raising the profile of E&D initiatives across the company through events (including GNM’s Diversity week) and intranet site communications.
You will need to maintain relationships and set up partnerships with external organisations and professional networks to ensure business is in line with best practice. The role involves contact with a wide variety of people internally and externally so excellent interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills are crucial.
