PPL publishes and operates the People Management Website at the url http://www.peoplemanagement.co.uk (the "Website"), the People Management Application (the “Application”) and the People Management magazine (the "Magazine") on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development ("CIPD") and CIPD Enterprises Limited ("CIPDE").

This privacy policy applies to any information acquired by and/or provided to PPL including but not limited to:
• information acquired/provided through use of the Website
• information acquired/provided through use of the Application
• information acquired/provided during the course of orders, transactions and bookings
• information acquired/provided through enquiries or by the completion of any request and or invitation for information.

PPL and/or CIPD and/or CIPDE recognises that your privacy is important to you. The information you submit to CIPD will be kept confidential and secure once received. The information will be processed by CIPD or on its behalf under strictly regulated conditions in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.

Any personal information provided by you to, or obtained from other sources by PPL will only be used for the following purposes either by PPL and/or CIPD and/or CIPDE:
a) updating and enhancing customer contact and CIPD membership records and those of related CIPD activities;
b) compiling information relating to your use of CIPD and CIPDE products and services and defining areas of interest to you;
c) improving the Website or Application to meet users' habits and requirements and compiling information relating to users' movements across the Website or Application in accordance with our Cookie Policy;
d) providing the Website or Application Services to you, facilitating your use of the Services and providing you with the job alerts if requested;
e) advising you of other CIPD and CIPDE products and services which may be of interest; and
f) inviting you to participate in research studies and/or market research activities.

PPL and/or CIPD and/or CIPDE will only disclose this information in the following circumstances:
• where your consent has been obtained;
• where there is a legal obligation;
• where there is a public duty; and
• in connection with the assignment or transfer of all or any of its rights and obligations to any of its group companies or to any other third party.

PPL will take reasonable steps to create an accurate record of your personal data, however, PPL and/or CIPD and/or CIPDE does not assume responsibility for confirming the ongoing accuracy of your personal data. If you have any questions about your personal data, please email secretariat@cipd.co.uk. Proof of your identity, payment or other information may be required in order to respond to your request.

If you wish to change your mailing preferences or opt-out of specific marketing communications sent from CIPD and its subsidiaries you may notify us by clicking here and completing the notification form. Alternatively you may contact us on +44 (0)20 8612 6208. It may take up to 21 days for the changes to come into effect. Please note that this will not alter your current email subscription preferences.

Any modifications to the privacy practices of PPL and/or CIPD and/or CIPDE will be reflected first within this area of our website. If there is a material change in our privacy practices, PPL and/or CIPD and/or CIPDE will indicate on this site that PPL’s and/or CIPD’s and/or CIPDE’s privacy practices have changed, and make the necessary amendments to the current privacy policy. If PPL and/or CIPD and/or CIPDE considers using the information collected from you in a manner materially different from that stated at the time of collection, PPL and/or CIPD and/or CIPDE will send written notice by email of the change.
