This DVD-based resource on teamworking is designed to form the basis of a learning programme that describes and explains the uses of Meredith Belbin’s theory on team roles. The first section focuses on the team role story, while the second explores "team roles in action" and forms the core of the training course.
The resource features a five-minute question-and-answer session with Meredith Belbin and then a more in-depth analysis of each team role. A facilitator’s guide and support material are also part of the package. But to get the full benefit from the programme, users would also need to invest in the Belbin Self-Perception Inventory beforehand.
I found it difficult to warm to this product (excuse the pun). The style of the DVD is in essence a talking head conveying great chunks of information. I needed to view the content several times to pick it up fully, although running it with subtitles certainly helped. (It has clearly been developed for the international market, as it contains a wide choice of subtitle languages.)
