In response to the equality bill, which will force companies to publish their employees’ details publicly, we are drawing to a close the age-old British tradition of keeping salary details private.
The bill’s goals to promote more women to senior roles, narrow the pay gap and create a fairer work environment should be applauded. But it will give employees disproportionate leverage over employers, resulting in confrontation, an unhappy workplace, lower productivity, disillusionment and envy.
