Now is “not the right time” for the government to offer tax incentives for firms to get sick employees back to work, minister Lord McKenzie has admitted.

Speaking at the Association of British Insurers’ (ABI) “Social welfare to social responsibility” debate in London earlier this month, the work and pensions minister said that in the current economic climate the government “couldn’t honestly hold out on a raft of tax incentives”.
