Less than a fifth of final salary schemes are now open to new employees

The number of final salary schemes open to new members has dropped to a record low, according to new research.
The survey of over a hundred pensions’ managers found that only 17 per cent of final salary schemes are now open to new members. The figure has dropped from a quarter last year, and half in 2003.
