Managing attendance and getting staff on long-term sick leave back to work can be challenging at the best of times (“Help sick staff to get back to work,” News, 24 July).

Yes, we need sound attendance management policies but I feel we also need the support offered by a competent, supportive professional who works on staff welfare and occupational health issues.
