Equality Tribunal hears over 300 claims in 2007, with figures continuing to climb for this year

Complaints of racial discrimination in the workplace more than doubled last year and have continued to rise steadily this year, according to the Equality Tribunal’s annual report.

The Tribunal is an independent quasi-judicial body which adjudicates on complaints of discrimination in the work place and in the provision of services on nine grounds – gender, family status, marital status, race, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability and membership of the traveller community.
