“Learning from the past?” stated, “The benefits of apprenticeships have long been understood”. But I feel the article actually misunderstood and viewed them from the wrong perspective. Historically, particularly before the industrial revolution, an apprenticeship served to fit a young person into society, give them a job for life, a feeling of belonging and a sense of responsibility.
