Statutory procedures apply to suspensions without pay

A betting shop manager had an agreement with his manager that he would not work on Mondays due to childcare responsibilities. This was not set out in his employment contract. When Bunn refused a request to work one Monday, he was suspended without pay and dismissed after a disciplinary hearing.
