HR business partnering looks set to stay. It has been around for more than 10 years in the UK, but is certainly not lacking in controversy. HR professionals and managers are still divided over its merits, with equally strong critics and advocates regularly arguing their case in the business press.

A lot of emphasis has been put on how strategic the role of business partner really is. The job title has become popular and is now used for a multitude of roles, even some that are still traditional and operational in nature.
