The latest setback in age equality campaigner Heyday’s battle to ban the UK’s compulsory retirement age is a disappointment but not a disaster, the organisation’s director told PM.
Ailsa Ogilvie admitted that the ruling from the advocate-general at the European Court of Justice (ECJ) was “a blow”. The ruling said that fixed retirement ages were lawful provided they were underpinned by legitimate labour market aims.
