Unemployment increases in Ireland

The number of people signing the Live Register in Ireland – which includes the number of unemployed citizens – has risen by 17,000 to more than 238,000, government figures show.

This is the largest increase in 10 years, and is an increase of 60,000 in the 12 months since July 2007.
