A quarter of employers have drawn up plans for extra redundancies as the economic situation goes from bad to worse, the CIPD’s latest Labour Market Outlook survey shows.
In the quarterly survey of over 700 organisations run jointly with KPMG, 26 per cent said they had made contingency plans for additional redundancies. And older workers could bear the brunt of the jobs slide – one in five firms said they would exercise their right to make staff over the age of 65 redundant without giving a reason.
