How to... get more from interim staff
Interim workers can provide a cost-effective answer to plugging skills or resource gaps in the workplace – especially in tough economic times – by bringing business and project management expertise into organisations as and when needed. If you have never worked with an interim before and want to ensure you get the best from them, there are a number of points you should consider before and during their placement.
1 Brief the interim provider face-to-face
For the interim provider to find the best possible match for the role, it is best to meet them in person to talk through the requirements. If they are also able to visit your premises, this will help them to relay key information back to the interim, such as what the workplace and its transport links are like. These are important considerations for the interim when deciding whether to accept the role.
