According to the Equality and Human Rights Commission, women who want top jobs face a “concrete ceiling”. It reports that women’s progress has stalled or even reversed, despite the fact that women make up almost half of the workforce.
The report likens women’s progress to a “snail’s pace”. Fewer women now hold high office in 12 of the 25 categories, and the report also shatters the increasingly loud argument that men are being replaced by women in the workplace.
We used to talk about glass ceilings, but that takes us only so far – we need to think differently. Women’s career journeys are more like navigating a maze.
