Review warns lack of clarity on social care controls ‘is not good practice’

Some health and social care services staff at Haringey Council have been appointed before getting receipts for adequate Criminal Record Bureau checks, the report into the council’s children services has revealed.
The report, carried out by Ofsted, the Healthcare Commission and HM Inspectorate of Constabulary following the death of Baby P, found that healthcare staff without complete CRB checks are supervised. But it said the process in social care services is less clear, “which is not good practice”.
