Union rails against cuts as Credit Suisse and HSBC blame 'market conditions'

Credit Suisse and HSBC are the latest banking giants to announce job cuts to their UK workforces as the financial crisis continues to bite.
HSBC will cut 500 jobs following “a review of the business and current market conditions”, mainly from its London headquarters in Canary Wharf.
