Ineffective non-exec directors cited as factor in bank crisis

The role of non-executive directors (Neds) needs to be reviewed in the light of the bank crisis, according to experts at a CIPD round-table debate entitled “Picking up the pieces”.

A panel of senior HR professionals at the event discussed the lessons to be learnt from the banks’ downfall. One of the key factors they identified was the perceived failure of non-executive directors to question the actions of their executive colleagues on the board.
