The government must offer emergency funding and loan guarantees to the manufacturing sector in the same way that it has to the finance sector, a new report has warned.High- and medium-tech manufacturing businesses that have also developed strong service portfolios alongside their traditional products – so-called “manu-service” companies – represent one of the “best hopes” for the upturn, according to the paper from the Work Foundation.
