Recession fails to take a bite out of the fast food sector

Sandwich company Subway is to open 600 new stores in the UK and Ireland by 2010, with the creation of more than 7,000 jobs. The American chain, which already has 1,400 outlets here, is to invest £60 million in the expansion. The move is further evidence that the fast food sector is flourishing in the recession, as customers eschew more expensive food options.
