Bank and Unite dispute number of job losses

HSBC has sparked a row with unions over its latest announcement of job cuts.The bank said on Tuesday that it was making 1,200 further redundancies, concentrated in its service centres and support functions. Service centres in Leamington Spa and Newport, south Wales, will close, resulting in 280 and 90 job losses respectively, while another 150 will go at HSBC’s Canary Wharf headquarters in London.
