EEF warns of 140,000 jobs forecast to be lost this year

The pace of the downturn in manufacturing has accelerated, with 140,000 jobs forecast to be lost this year, according to a new survey.
The latest quarterly outlook from the manufacturers’ organisation, the EEF, warned that the sector faces a “significant squeeze” for the rest of this year, and only a minimal recovery in 2010.
