Directors of NHS trusts received an average pay increase of 6.4 per cent last year, far in excess of the government’s targets for restricting public-sector rises to 2 per cent, research suggests. The latest NHS Boardroom Pay Report from Incomes Data Services (IDS) found that the median salary for a chief executive of a foundation trust was £157,000, and that executives there gained an average rise of 7.6 per cent. At non-foundation trusts, chief executives earned £132,600 and the average rise was 5.7 per cent.
