Sexes pay gap is linked to bonuses
The design of bonuses and performance-related pay could be partly responsible for the gender pay gap, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has suggested.
It has issued guidance detailing a list of pay practices it deems “high-risk” in terms of discrimination. One of them is performance-related pay. “Performance and merit are inherently subjective concepts, and there is always the risk of bias creeping in,” it says.
