The bigger picture
When the CIPD launches its annual Learning and Development survey at next month’s HRD 2009 conference and exhibition, it will provide a valuable update on trends in the light of the global economic crisis.Claire McCartney, CIPD adviser, organisation, resourcing and performance, will be discussing the findings in one of the seminars at this year’s conference. As well as insights into current and future trends, the 2009 survey focuses on some specific issues currently facing the profession. Questions were asked about the importance of skills, the skills gap and the need for leadership skills. The survey also explores attitudes to coaching and coaching practice, and trends in talent management. In this area, the research looks at strategy against the background of a downturn and ways in which organisations are evaluating talent.
