Coaching culture needed in recession, says CIPD study
Line managers should be encouraged to develop a “coaching style of management” but can never be expected to fulfil all the functions of a specialist coach, according to a new CIPD research report.The study, Coaching at the Sharp End , examined the work of 500 managers from 10 organisations and looked at the perceived “devolution” of coaching to line managers taking place as firms cut costs in the recession.
