Engaging your employees may not guarantee survival in turbulent times but there is growing evidence to indicate that organisations which invest in engagement are at the least better equipped to maintain performance. Building an engaged workforce is not an overnight task, as the experience of Standard Chartered bank, one of the Shaping the Future case study organisations, shows. It requires a sustained commitment by a number of players: senior business leaders, line managers, teams, individual employees and HR.
