Public sector ‘not immune from cuts’
Local government must “take its share of the pain” of the recession, through pay restraint and job cuts, according to the incoming president of the Public Sector People Managers’ Association (PPMA).Gillian Hibberd told PM that “no part of the public sector is immune to the recession”, contrary to reports in the media that the private sector is bearing the brunt of job and pay cuts.
