‘Reverse mentoring’ needed for Twitter technology

Organisations should think about using “reverse mentoring” to help spread the use and benefits of social networking technology such as Twitter, delegates at the HRD conference heard.Paul Herrick, managing director of HR, Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA), at communications firm Burson-Marsteller, told the conference that Generation Y employees are often “early adopters” of such technology and they could be tasked with mentoring their more senior bosses in the medium. Burson-Marsteller has used this method in the US and Herrick is planning to import the approach.
