The sharp end
The CIPD’s new Research into Practice report, Coaching at the Sharp End , is the latest in a series of reports and member resources in this field. It reflects organisations’ continuing interest in the use of coaching in the workplace, and the ways in which it is being delivered.Valerie Anderson, principal lecturer in HRM at Portsmouth Business School and a member of the report’s research team, is leading a case study-based seminar on the new report at HRD 2009. This examines the implications of devolving coaching to line managers and emphasises the role HR has to play in ensuring that line managers can deliver coaching sustainably within their organisations. Anderson is joined by speakers from two of the organisations that contributed as case studies to the report: VT Group and KPMG.
