Watchdog report reveals 60 per cent gender pay gap in financial sector

Women earn up to 60 per cent less than men in the financial sector, according to a report out today by the equalities watchdog.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) found that women working full time in financial services earned 40 per cent less per hour than men, more than double the gender gap in the rest of the economy, which stands at 17 per cent. Women working in areas such as fund management, stockbroking and futures trading suffered the biggest gap in salary, earning on average 60 per cent less per year than their male counterparts.
