Well-being project puts stricken NHS trust on road to recovery

A health and well-being project at Mid Essex Hospitals NHS Trust is helping to improve employee morale after a period of huge turmoil, delegates at HRD heard.Denise Mortimer, project manager for staff well-being at the trust, said the scheme had been introduced in April 2008 when morale was at an all-time low, with people feeling overworked and under-appreciated. Financial problems had led to a swathe of job cuts, the dismissal of the entire board and the finance director’s imprisonment for falsifying the accounts, she said.
