Coaching for the future

With reference to Jean-Charles Gentilly’s response (Letters, 9 April) to Sir John Whitmore’s thoughtful article on the role of coaching strategies in supporting business models post-recession, I feel Mr Gentilly has missed the point in the article. His quotation of the CIPD’s simplistic definition of coaching pre-supposes the traditional one-to-one coachee developmental approach, when Whitmore was reviewing a bigger business picture.
