To ensure expenses are not abused you need a clear policy

If the MPs’ expenses saga teaches employers one lesson, it is the need to set out clear rules on expense claims and to police them properly. Employers will already know this if they have been faced with an employee dismissed for expenses irregularities and arguing that the employer is deliberately trying to justify an otherwise unjustifiable dismissal.
