UK pay settlements ‘vary widely by sector’
Wage settlements in the UK have revealed a wide split on pay by sector, according to the Incomes Data Services Pay Databank report.
One in five pay reviews in the first three months of 2009 resulted in a freeze, reducing the UK’s median pay settlement to 3 per cent. But freezes were concentrated in certain industries – such as vehicle manufacturers, chemicals companies and media groups – with many other sectors relatively untouched.
