Budget brands see rush of job applications

There has been a rush of applications for jobs at budget retailer Primark and fast food chain McDonald’s as more people hunt for work during the recession.

Nearly 14,000 people applied for 420 positions at a new branch of Primark in Bristol, while McDonald’s said it is receiving 2,200 crew applications and hiring 140 people each day.
