Leave your serious business coat at the door

Too often I’ve observed that people in the corporate world feel obliged to leave their real personality at the door and put on the “coat” of serious business on entering the building. Over the years we’ve learnt that this is a huge barrier to creativity. We work to help people reverse this behaviour and bring their whole selves to work – a huge step in releasing inherent creativity.A big part of this is about learning to trust your intuition. I was working with a group of retailers last week and they found this concept hugely revelatory. Their lifeblood, particularly in the present climate, is staying close to their customers. The problem is that customers will often tell you what they think you want to hear rather than reveal their true behaviour and needs.
