Council workers win appeal on back of female colleagues’ equal pay ruling

Male staff at three councils in the north-east of England have won a “landmark” equal pay claim that could lead to 12,000 similar cases being brought, lawyers have warned.
The men’s claims “piggybacked” on an earlier pay claim by female colleagues at Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and South Tyneside councils.
