£4 billion efficiency savings mooted for public sector “are achievable”
Substantial efficiency savings suggested for public-sector back-office services such as HR are achievable, despite the doubts of a Treasury committee, the report’s author has told PM.The Operational Efficiency Programme report for the Treasury, by Martin Read, former chairman of Logica, suggested that between 20 per cent and 25 per cent (£4 billion) could be saved on back-office service budgets.
