Allocated pot of subsidies proves inadequate in downturn

Employers in the plastic manufacturing sector are being left without subsidised training after government funding ran out earlier than expected.The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) agreed £50 million of funding as part of the Train to Gain scheme for the sector. But the pot has proved inadequate as a large number of employers opted for subsidised training in the downturn.
