Radio review: The Money Grab, Episode 2

The second part of Alvin Hall’s documentary on the rise of City pay and bonuses came at the end of a week when UK banks announced their half-year results, confirming an upturn in the financial industry – and that bonuses were well and truly back less than a year after the banking crisis brought the economy to near collapse. In this episode Hall set out to quiz the politicians and shareholders who are attempting to rein in these sky-high packages. While no one could deny their intent, recent events must have left any listener questioning how so little could have changed. A greater focus on the lessons learned would have been welcome.
