Government advisers call for skills quango shake up
At least 30 publicly funded education and training agencies should be abolished to help simplify the skills landscape, according to government advisers.A report by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) says the number of quangos must be reduced to “de-clutter” the government-funded training system. The move would save hundreds of millions of pounds at a time when public spending is being squeezed, as well as encourage more employers to engage with a skills system that they are currently unable to access.
