Survey reveals UK culture of ‘presenteeism’
A quarter of people struggle into work even though they are ill enough to justify calling in sick, a survey of 39,000 UK workers has revealed. The research by business psychology firm Robertson Cooper identified that “presenteeism” affected 25 per cent of workers. The causes of presenteeism were complex, researchers said, but a key feature was people feeling compelled to go to the office while sick to show their boss they were committed.
