The number of councils experiencing difficulties in recruiting and retaining children’s social workers has risen despite government efforts to tackle the problems.
Six out of 10 councils in England are having children’s social worker recruitment and retention problems, compared with four out of 10 a year ago, according to this year’s local government workforce survey. The new figures show retention difficulties have increased by 50 per cent.
