Agreement on climate change is so near, yet so far
As the high-level negotiations of the final few days at COP15 continue it is unclear, even at this late stage, how they will conclude. But, after almost two weeks of rising tensions both inside and outside the Bella Centre, where has this conference already seen greater or lesser levels of success?First, the successes. Denmark has managed the influx of a huge number of people into the city of Copenhagen, and the Danes have remained unfailingly helpful and friendly to their many guests over the last fortnight. Inside the conference centre the atmosphere has remained open and inclusive almost up until these final days; high-level delegates have mingled with the general population, while business representatives and activists alike have been made welcome and included in the dialogue at side events and in corridors.
