Defence firm boosts engagement by showing how employees’ work protects lives
Widening the perspective of staff and showing them how their work protects lives has been key to boosting employee engagement at defence electronics company SELEX Galileo, part of international defence group Finmeccanica.
Workers at the firm, whose UK arm was formerly part of BAE Systems, used to see themselves as producers of “black boxes” within the supply chain. But a recent change programme has encouraged staff to identify with the front-line soldiers and pilots who use their equipment, which has proved a powerful motivator.
