Local authorities strive to appoint more apprentices
Many local authorities have been pioneering apprenticeship programmes despite an overall apprentice shortfall in the public sector, according to the National Apprenticeship Service (Nas).Speaking in response to criticism last month from minister Lord McKenzie, who expressed disappointment over the number of apprentices employed by councils, Nas insists that a range of local authorities have deployed successful apprenticeship schemes.
