Mock tube station gives London Underground staff real-life training
A new mock tube station has revolutionised training at London Underground, giving staff preparation for a range of real-life situations before going out into the field. The simulation suite – a fake station called West Ashfield – is being used to train new London Underground (LU) drivers, gate operators and apprentices, and to retrain staff moving between operational fields. Opened in October at a cost of £800,000, it is anticipated that 20,000 people will use the facility in its first five years.
