Most would agree that we should be closing the gap between men and women’s pay. But how can this be achieved? Private-sector employers’ reluctance to take action to close the gender pay gap is understandable, considering the impact that equal pay litigation has had in local government and the NHS. Increasing the salary bill would be unwelcome at a time when many employers are still looking to cut costs.
